In furtherance of its constitutional obligation, the Gushegu Municipal held its First Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of The Nineth Assembly on Wednesday, May 13, 2025 at the Assembly Hall. This brought together Assemblymen, Heads of Department; Institutions and agencies, the media etc.On his maiden address to the assembly, after assumption of office as the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Adam A. Hafiz leverage the occasion to outline his vision for the municipality in conformity with the RESET agenda of the government. He indicated a sense of responsibility and gratitude to be addressing the 2025 first ordinary assembly and centered his speech on Peace and Security, updates on assembly projects, the 2025 DACF plan and budget as well as issues affecting good governance and administrative performance.
Hon Hafiz assured the members that the municipality is generally peaceful, with literally sporadic instances of violence, specifically the Tindong-Jimbally conflict, which poses serious threat to peace and stability in the municipality because of its potential to escalate into the other konkomba communities.
The MCE further gave updates on assembly’s development projects, with various funding sources from the Gulf of Guinea Social Cohesion Project [SOCO], the DACF-RFG or DPAT, the Ghana Productive Safety Net and the Common Fund.
He ultimately reiterated the NDC’s government commitment to bringing governance and services to the doorstep of the people through accountability and judicious use of scarce state resources. The commitment that manifested in the government flagship programs, where, for the first time, the 24hr economy, CHPS compounds etc. are firmly integrated into local development plans and budgets. Where Common fund expenditure is decentralized to ensure an even and balanced development, where local assembly members are paid allowances all to ensure that the lives of citizens are better off.
He therefore called on all to join the reset agenda and take the municipality to the next stage of development, for each and every member shall be judged and remembered for the positive contribution they made to enhance discussions and decisions of the assembly.
