As part of his supervisory mandate, the MCE, Hon. Hafiz together with the MCD, Mr. Osman and the SOCO monitoring team of the assembly, yesterday 8 July embarked on a tour to all SOCO projects within the municipality.Their first stop was at Zantili, where the MCE paid a courtesy call on Nayab Zantil-lana to brief him on the purpose of their visit. At the Zantili CHPS project, Hon. Hafiz was impressed with the work and commended the contractor for the quality of work done and completing it within schedule. The contractor then handed the facility to the MCE, who in turn handed it to Nayab Zantil-lana, and the municipal health Director finally received it from Nayab. Hon. Hafiz then advised the community to own the facility and ensure its proper maintenance so to attract more projects to the area.
The team then proceeded to Champongyili CHPS project, it was realised that the project was only near completion, Hon. Hafiz was not enthused for the delay, but the contractor assured him that the project will be completed within the prescribed time. The MCE admonished the contractor on the time factor, and promised to monitor him aggressively for timely completion.
At Katani and Dikpung respective, both classrooms projects were about 95℅ complete, Hon. Hafiz bemoaned the slow pace of work, and warned that, if the projects are not completed within time, the assembly will be left with no option but to terminate the contract.
When the team proceeded to Kanimo, the CHOS project was still at the foundation level, efforts to contact the contractor proved futile. The assembly is yet to take decision on the project.
Finally, MCE and his team visited Guunayili, and the work on 6unit teacher Bungalow was proceeding steadily.
