Municipal Planning and Coordinating unit first quarter meeting

The Gushegu Municipal Assembly held it’s 2022 first quarter Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit(MPCU) and Municipal Nutrition Coordinating Committee(MNCC) Meeting’s. This meeting brought together all the units and decentralized departments within the Municipal to present the progress of implementation of all the projects and programs across all the sectors of the Municipal.

In the opening remarks of the Municipal Coordinating Director, He indicated that, the MPCU/DNCC meeting is organized quarterly, however due to financial constraints on the part of the Municipal Assembly, the office sometimes finds it difficult to organize it  regularly. He therefore thanked USAID Advancing Nutrition Ghana for their continuous support to the Assembly. He added that, the MPCU was the engine of the Assembly and therefore urged the various departments to continue to give out their best for the betterment of Gushegu Municipal Assembly and Ghana as a whole. He recommended the collaboration shown by the departments.

 The departments presented the  progress of  work within the quarter and the plans put in place for the second quarter. The participating departments were

  2. Social Welfare and Community Development
  3. Works Department
  4. Ghana Health Service
  5. Ghana Education Service
  6. BAC/GEA
  7. Physical Planning Department
  8. Statistical Department
  9. NEDCO/VRA
  10. Environmental Health Unit
  11. Forestry
  12. Birth and Death Registry
  13. Development Planning Unit

The USAID Advancing Nutrition Rep. Madam Adam Adishetu in her remarks, thanked members for making time to be part of the meeting. She indicated that USAID in collaboration with the government of Ghana is investing massively in Advancing Nutrition in Ghana. She said USAID requires the commitment of every stakeholder to improve nutrition and food security. According to her the MNCC was instituted to be integrated into the MPCU which is an already existing committee within the Assembly structure. She thanked all the departments for their efforts in implementing the nutritional programmes and reporting accordingly.
